Architecture, engineering. construction processes are major influences on Rob Olins’ practice along with the subconscious effect that volumes, forms and colour have on our perceptions of the world. He is particularly interested in the contribution artworks have to the built environment and how to successfully combine them. Using unusual combinations of materials, lighting, magnetism, kinetics, optical effects, contemporary engineering, interactivity and sound he likes to enable the viewer to read, observe and interact with their environment.

Crucial to Rob Olins practice is collaborative working. He has worked with Architects, Interior Designers, Lighting Consultants, Universities, Community Groups and Schools as well specialist consultants. He enjoys working as part of a team of creative people engaging specialists where required, a process that can lead to exciting and unexpected developments.

Based in the Uk, Rob Olins work has been exhibited and commissioned internationally.
