Professional membership of the RBS is by application and is open to all professional sculptors working in the UK or overseas.

Applications for membership are processed bi-monthly by the
elected RBS council

ASSOCIATE

ARBS

Associate membership is awarded to established sculptors with a high level of expertise and experience and who are able to demonstrate that they are working to a professional standard.

Candidates will normally have successfully completed relevant formal academic studies. Consideration and selection is undertaken by the Council of Trustees with delegate powers and subject to the formal approval of the general membership.

FELLOW

FRBS

Fellowship is awarded to Associate members who present a proven track record of distinction and high achievement within the discipline and art of sculpture.

In the case of candidates of exceptional distinction previous Associate Membership of the RBS may be waived as a pre-requesite.

Fellows are nominated annually and selected by a meeting of Fellows at the AGM.

BURSARY

10 awarded every year

Bursary membership is commensurate with full Associate membership and is awarded to a recent graduate or potential within the practise of sculpture. Tenure is for two years during which time the holder will be invited to exhibit in a group show with the other Bursary winners at the RBS Gallery.

At the end of the two years, Bursary winners are automatically awarded full Associate membership.

Consideration and selection is by a specialist panel from within the membership and is strictly on a competitive basis.

National Register of Sculptors

On December 1, 2004 the RBS launched the non-selective register of sculptors, open to any sculptor living and working in the UK.

Benefits include: -

  • A page on public digital database in the RBS resource centre accessible to art consultants, private and public commissioners.
  • Emailed PV invitations to Members shows and to RBS shows.
  • Digital mailing of additional information about event, talks and debates on sculpture.
  • Access to a series of lectures on continuing professional development.
  • Separate database of contact details.
